Today I attended Bruce Godfrey’s Apps for the Field: Mobile Data Collection using ArcGIS Online  workshop.  Bruce is UI’s GIS Librarian and demonstrated two apps for field collection, Collector and Survey123.

Collector is map-centric and Survey123 is form-centric.  Both are fairly intuitive to use with ArcGIS Online and all students, staff and faculty at UI can use the organization license for teaching, research and non-commercial use.  Users just need to email Bruce to get their UI log-in credentials connected to that site.  I spoke with him about uploading video through ArcGIS’s Story Maps and he said he thinks video files can be hosted through ArcGIS Online’s server.  This will be a huge benefit for my Idaho’s LGBTQ Community oral history project.  I’m excited to collect enough data to begin mapping.
